David Birnbaum

A journalist by training, David Birnbaum has been the Executive Director of the Quebec English School Boards Association since 2004. He is elected in the electoral division of D'Arcy-McGee on the 7th of April 2014.

He holds a DEC from Dawson College as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Concordia University.

Mr. Birnbaum launched his professional career at The Gazette where he covered municipal affairs and later moved on to become an information officer with the Protestant School Board of Quebec.  While there, his responsibilities included devising communication policy, as well as writing and editing annual reports.  These functions also made him the official spokesman for the second largest school board in the province. He followed that up with stints as Executive Director of Québexpertise, a consulting firm welcoming immigrants to the province, Executive Director of the Canadian Jewish Congress (Quebec region) and the Executive Director of the Quebec English School Boards association,

Apart from professional life, David Birnbaum always has given much of his time to his favorite  causes. He served as a Member of the comité sur le travail autonome de la Chambre de commerce de Montréal, President of the 2nd Annual Conference of the Canadian Association of Information Officers in Education, member of the Consultative Committee for the Official Languages Commissioner of Canada, and member of the Board for United-way Montreal.
