He’s elected on April 7th 2014, deputy of the electoral division of Abitibi-Est.

He holds a DEC in Administrative Sciences from the Cégep de l’Abitibi-Témiscamnigue, a B.A. in the same subject from l’Université du Québec en Abitibi Témiscamingue (UQAT) as well as a scolarity in Development Management from l’Université de Sherbrooke. He has also undertaken studies in administration and business communications.

After he earned his B.A., he became a liaison agent with UQAT where he was responsible for undertaking all research aiming to identifying the needs of existing and future customers in educational training. Between 1983 and 1996, he held such positions as head lecturer at the Collège de l’Abitibi-Témiscamingue, General Manager of the Support Group with l’Entreprise Jeunesse de l’Abitibi-Témiscamingue, and General Manager of the shopping centres – Carrefour La Sarre, Place Centre-ville d’Amos and Les Promenades du Cuivre Rouyn-Noranda.  In 1996, he became Director of the Economic Development department of the City and Airport of Amos, a position which he still holds today. As well as those positions, Guy Bourgeois became in 2003 a work site agent for COMAZAT AND COMAXNORD, two committees charged with maximizing the economic benefits of major Hydro-Quebec projects which are taking place in Abitibi-Témiscamnigue and Quebec’s North.

He also had the opportunity during his career of serving as a trainer for the Ministry of Finance and the Economy relative to Northern economic development; co-ordinator of the Partnership program of the Fédération canadienne des municipalités Amos-Coyhaique (Chile), and President of the Centre des technologies de l’information et des télécommunications of l’Abitibi-Témiscamingue.
