Pierre Giguère is a former Shawinigan city councillor, a long-time farmer and father of two children. He is the deputy of the electoral division of Saint-Maurince since April 7, 2014.
He is the proud operator of a family-run farm. As the third generation of his family to take care of it, he is anything but a beginner in agriculture. He has solid field experience. Pierre, both a dairy farm manager and beef producer, has also been a very active member of the UPA Val-Mauricie since 1994. On this organization’s Board of Directors, he has served as a delegate for cattle producers for six years.
In 2009, he entered municipal politics as a city councillor for the City of Shawinigan. He held this position until 2013. As a city councillor, he was a member of the City’s Executive Committee and Chairman of the Public Safety Committee, Emergency Preparedness Committee, Agricultural Advisory Committee, Service d’aide aux nouveaux arrivants and Comité de la politique sur les nouveaux arrivants or administrator of the Local Investment Fund.
Pierre is very involved in his community as a member of Shawinigan-Sud’s Knights of Columbus and Optimist Club. He was also a member of the Association de protection du Lac-à-la-Tortue, advocating for the protection of natural areas. He has also volunteered for organizations such as Nez-Rouge, Noël du pauvre and many hockey programs.
