In a second QLP government mandate:
Each family will receive between $300 and $150 per child, according to their household income. Families will be able to choose to invest in what will make their lives easier and allow them to spend more quality time together as a family.
Balancing family, work and studies will be easier because Quebec families will have access to 2,000 new spaces in subsidized child care services in their workplaces, and in CEGEPs and universities.
The Quebec Parental Insurance Plan will allow new parents:
- to choose to return to work ten days earlier and bank the ten days of paid leave so that it can be used when a child is sick, for example;
- to choose to break up their parental leave and spread it out over two years.
Life will be easier for parents who adopt, as they will benefit from a more generous Quebec Parental Insurance Plan. The lives of parents with multiple children will be made easier because their leave will be longer.
Parents’ lives will also be easier thanks to best practices in balancing work and family life that will be introduced in the workplace, which will be beneficial to Quebec businesses as well.
As the first commitment for his second mandate, the leader of the QLP, Philippe Couillard, made concrete commitments to making life easier for all of Quebec’s families.
