Access to health care services ❤️

4 concrete measures to provide families with faster, easier access to health care services- Making families lives easier means making sure that dads and moms both have Medicare cards, so they can avoid searching for one when their child is sick.- It also means neighbourhood clinics that are open later every day to avoid emergency room waits for earaches or minor injuries.- It’s allowing local pharmacists to administer vaccines instead of having to make an appointment at a clinic that is further away from home.- It’s using the latest technologies to limit time spent at a clinic and increase time spent at home.We understand the realities and challenges that families face today. That’s why we are offering concrete, realistic and feasible solutions that we will introduce to make life easier for Quebecers.

To make life easier for Quebecers, the leader of the Quebec Liberal Party, Philippe Couillard, has committed to four concrete actions which will provide quicker, easier access to health care services.

In a second Liberal government mandate:

  • Each family will have a second Medicare card for children under 14 years of age to make life easier for parents;
  • Families will have access to pharmacists’ services for administering vaccines and/or a wide range of consultation services;
  • Access to primary health care services will be improved by the addition of 25 super-clinics, open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week;
  • Families, especially those in the regions, will be able to benefit from new telehealth services, such as teleconsultation, telesupport, telepathology, telecare and teletraining.

These commitments to facilitating access to health care services will, over time, represent an additional annual investment of 16,5 million dollars.

Some results achieved since 2014:

  • An additional 1.1 million people now have access to a family doctor (which is equivalent to the total populations of Laval and Quebec City);
  • 49 super-clinics have been opened and function 12 hours a day, 7 days a week in the regions of Montreal, Outaouais, Estrie, Capitale-Nationale, Mauricie, Laval, Chaudière-Appalaches, Montérégie and Lanaudière;
  • The Carnet Santé health record, where all relevant information pertaining to your health can be found.
