Close to 7,000 handicapped and vulnerable individuals currently residing in intermediate resource facilities are still being forgotten by the Legault government. Since they arrived in power, the CAQ has stopped protecting their guaranteed basic income which was foreseen in the previous Liberal government’s Action Plan to Combat Poverty.
The MNA representing Fabre and Liberal Critic for Employment and Social Solidarity, Ms. Monique Sauvé, met with Minister Jean Boulet on two occasions to inform him of this serious concern and to urge him to confirm the anticipated increase to social solidarity benefits.
And in spite of this, people are still waiting on the publication of a regulation that would increase social solidarity benefits for all handicapped people in Quebec.
Recall that after 9 months, this long-sought-after regulation is still under analysis.
Mr. Minister of Employment and Social Solidarity, 7,000 vulnerable and handicapped people have been waiting nine months for a regulation in the Official Gazette to be applied so that they can access the guaranteed basic income they dearly need. It is urgent for the analysis to be completed to promote their social inclusion and improve their quality of life. What is the hold up Mr. Boulet?
