QUEBEC, November 7, 2018. – Today Mr. Jean Rousselle, MNA for Vimont and Official Opposition Critic for Ethics and Integrity in Public Procurement, requested that the Ethics Commissioner open an investigation on the MNA for Laviolette-Saint-Maurice, Ms. Marie-Louise Tardif.
We learned through the media that the MNA for Laviolette-Saint-Maurice was still receiving compensation from her former employer, Parc de l’Île Melville, despite her role at the National Assembly. It also seems that Ms. Tardif transferred furniture to Parc de l’Île Melville from the former MNA for Laviolette’s office; furniture that is the property of the National Assembly.
In her response to the MNA for Vimont, the Commissioner has confirmed that an investigation regarding the MNA for Laviolette-Saint-Maurice has been launched pursuant to articles 11 and 36 of the Code of Ethics and Conduct of the Members of the National Assembly.
The Coalition Avenir Québec always made it very clear that there was a zero tolerance policy when it came to ethics. Today, we invite Mr. Legault to acknowledge the situation and take the steps he deems necessary in light of this new information.
