François Legault’s government persists with its lack of transparency in Quebec City’s 3rd Link file. Once again this morning, the CAQ was opposed to Quebecers hearing from Mr. Frédéric Pellerin, the director of the project bureau for this major undertaking.
The CAQ MNAs who are members of the Transport and Environment Committee voted against the mandate initiative request made last August by Mr. Gaétan Barrette, the Liberal Critic for Transport, which demanded that parliamentarians be allowed to hear from Mr. Pellerin.
The MNA representing La Pinière wanted Mr. Pellerin to provide clarity regarding the cost, route and timeline of this major project in the Quebec City region.
Recall that during the study of budget credits last spring, the Minister of Transport, Mr. François Bonnardel, also refused to allow Mr. Pellerin to speak before parliamentarians.
The Quebec Liberal Party has always supported the Quebec City region’s 3rd Link project. A project of this magnitude requires collaboration and regular transmission of information to citizens as, at the end of the day, they are the ones paying the bill.
Quebecers have the right to know how much the 3rd Link is going to cost, but the government continues to stubbornly hide information from them. It is a project worth billions of dollars, Minister Bonnardel must be using data to support his decision to announce that the Eastern route will be chosen. What is the government hiding that it refuses parliamentarians the opportunity to hear from the director of the project bureau?
