As the tabling of Bill 17, An Act respecting remunerated passenger transportation by automobile, has made the situation between stakeholders from the taxi industry and the government particularly tense, the MNA representing La Pinière and Official Opposition Critic for Transport and for the Conseil du Trésor, Mr. Gaétan Barrette made the following declaration pursuant to comments made by a taxi driver on social media.
Bill 17 is angering stakeholders and we want to reiterate our support for taxi permit holders who have been adversely affected by Minister Bonnardel’s bill. That being said, some of the comments made on social media regarding the government and Premier have gone too far. I would like to remind everyone that all forms of this debate can and must be conducted in a manner that respects all parties involved.
