QUEBEC, July 12, 2018 – To ensure the quality and durability of facilities as well as encourage the population to be more physically active on a regular basis, the government has earmarked 158 million dollars of financial assistance to fund 231 sports and recreational infrastructure projects.

The Ministry of Education, Recreation and Sports, and Minister responsible for the Capitale-Nationale region, Mr. Sébastien Proulx, made the announcement today while visiting the Académie Saint-Louis.  He was accompanied by Mr. Patrick Huot, the MNA for Vanier-Les Rivières and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister responsible for Government Administration and Ongoing Program Review and Chair of the Conseil du trésor, as well as Mr. Rémy Normand, Vice-President of the Executive Council, President of the Réseau de transport de la Capitale (RTC) and President of the Sainte-Foy-Sillery-Cap-Rouge borough.

 Quotes

Over the course of the past few years, our government has not hesitated to implement various measures to make people want to get moving from an early age and throughout their entire lives. The investments we are making in sports and recreational infrastructures are a concrete way of demonstrating the importance that we attach to health and quality of life for families and for the entire population.

– Sébastien Proulx, Minister of Education, Recreation and Sports and Minister responsible for the Capitale-Nationale region

I am so thrilled for the citizens of the Vanier-Les Rivières riding, who will benefit from the new sports complex at the Académie Saint-Louis and the renovated Saint-André tennis courts. It’s important to offer families, and the entire population, modern and safe infrastructures that will make them want to get moving.

– Patrick Huot, MNA for Vanier-Les Rivières
