Isabelle Melançon, Quebec Liberal Party official candidate for the by-election in Verdun


Married, with two children, Elizabeth, 6, and Christophe, 10, Isabelle Melançon has extensive experience in management and communications. In recent years she held chief of staff positions in the Ministries of Culture and Communications and Higher Education. From 2008 to 2014, she was Executive Director of Communications and Institutional Relations with the Société de développement des entreprises culturelles (SODEC)

Ms. Melançon strongly believes in the importance of political engagement for the advancement of Quebec society. She has been active in the Quebec Liberal Party since 2001 and in 2002, was the candidate for the riding of Saguenay, now René-Lévesque. She was also Director of Communications for the Quebec Liberal Party from 2005 to 2007.

Verdun, October 3, 2016. “I enjoy working in a team and I will not lead this campaign alone. We will work together. I will be very present in the riding and believe me, when I get involved and take on a mandate, I put all my energy and all my heart into it, “said Isabelle Melançon, at the announcement of her nomination as the Quebec Liberal Party candidate for Verdun in the upcoming by-election. Ms. Melançon was accompanied by several members of Greater-Montreal area Liberal caucus, as well Quebec Liberal Party leader and Premier, Philippe Couillard.

Isabelle Melançon is a dynamic woman and a team builder who has always believed in the importance of political engagement as a means of defending causes that are important to her. Today she has decided to take this commitment to the next level by becoming a Member of the National Assembly. Her professional experience, both in politics and in culture, combined with her determination and great desire to advance Quebec society, make her the best person to represent the citizens of Verdun to the government team and in the National Assembly. Naturally driven, Isabelle Melançon will, I am sure, take on this new challenge with gusto and to the benefit of the families and the citizens of the riding.

For more than 15 years I have had the chance to meet people of all political persuasions as well as elected officials with whom I worked closely. Today I feel ready to take the next step. Ms. Melançon is a dynamic and authentic woman. Dedicated to the health of children and young adults, the fight against poverty and social exclusion, Ms. Melançon has been involved in organizations such as the Fondation Néz pour vivre and Centraide.  A unifier and hardworking, she moves forward the causes and projects in which she is invested. She gives great importance to the family and the well-being of those around her. She has always put lots of heart and energy into things. It is this same energy and beliefs that she wishes to offer to all citizens of Verdun, from the youngest to the oldest.
