En route to the 2018 general election
Sept-Îles, March 25, 2018. – Surrounded by many party members and supporters, Laurence Méthot was nominated as the official candidate for the Quebec Liberal Party (QLP) in the riding of Duplessis for the upcoming 2018 general election.
I am committed to serving Duplessis’s citizens by campaigning for the issues that are important to us. My deep attachment to this amazing region where I grew up is reflected in my determination to represent my fellow citizens’ interests. They have my full attention so that I can learn about their concerns and work with them to develop our constituency.
– Laurence Méthot, Liberal candidate for the 2018 general election.
The Liberal government has restored balance to public finances in order to give Quebec society the means to invest more in its priorities. Since May 2014, more than 225,500 jobs have been created in Quebec; the unemployment rate has been at a record low for several months; over 1,000,000 Quebecers have found a family doctor; taxes are lower; and major investments have been made in health and education, in particular.
I have actively contributed to the economic, cultural and social development of our riding, with more than 15 years of service towards my fellow citizens, first in Port-Cartier as a city councillor from 1999 to 2006, as Mayor from 2006 to 2013, and as a prefect in the RCM of Sept-Rivières. I intend to contribute to the development of our region and more specifically our riding, and I believe I can do even more as an MNA.
