En route to the 2018 general election

Saint-Hubert, May 28, 2018. – Surrounded by some one hundred party members and supporters, Linda Caron was nominated as the official candidate for the Quebec Liberal Party (QLP) in the riding of Vachon for the upcoming 2018 general election.

The Quebec Liberal Party has long understood that to invest heavily in society and services, money is needed, debt must be contained, and the economy has to be growing. To the Quebec Liberal Party, social justice is not a left-wing ideological way of thinking, it is a goal to achieve.

Note that the Liberal government has balanced our public finances to give us the means to invest more in our priorities. Since May 2014, more than 224,800 jobs have been created in Quebec; the unemployment rate has been at an all-time low for several months; over 1,000,000 Quebecers now have access to a family doctor; taxes have decreased; and major investments have been made in health and education, in particular.

After four years of this majority Liberal government, Quebec has experienced its strongest economic growth in nearly 20 years. Change has already begun and it is paying off.

Referring to MNA Camil Bouchard’s resignation one year after the 2008 election and the fact that MNA Martine Ouellet sits as an independent while still collecting her salary as a Member of the National Assembly although she has become Leader of the Bloc Québécois, Caron has committed to not betray Vachon residents’ confidence if voters place their trust in her by electing her on October 1, 2018.
