Linda Caron Becomes President of the Quebec Liberal Party

In the presence of Interim Leader Pierre Arcand, the Quebec Liberal Party’s (QLP) Executive Committee held a vote earlier in the evening to elect a new president; Ms. Linda Caron was named President of the QLP.

Linda Caron, a Committed Liberal Supporter

Ms. Caron was president of both the Party’s National Policy Committee from 2016–2018 and the Platform Committee during the 2018 general election. She was the Liberal candidate in the riding of Vachon last fall and has been a supporter within the QLP’s various bodies and associations since 1984. Her involvement has not been limited to the political sphere; she has been a member on various Boards of Directors within Quebec’s professional system, as well as within the education and community sectors.

She graduated from the École nationale d’administration publique with a Master’s degree in Public Administration in 2013 and also holds a Bachelor’s degree in translation which she earned from the Université de Montréal in 1988.

I would like to thank the members of the executive for the confidence they have placed in me by supporting my candidacy as the Party’s President. I am extremely enthusiastic about working alongside the executive, as well as with all other bodies within the Party, as we meet the challenges facing our party.

— Linda Caron, President of the QLP

Following Mr. Antoine Atallah’s resignation as President of the QLP, it was incumbent upon the Executive Committee to appoint a president until the next Members’ Convention, which will take place before the end of 2020, as per the Constitution. The members of the Executive Committee wish to express their gratitude to the First Vice-President, Ms. Katherine Martin, for having undertaken the interim presidency during the recent call for applications process.
