List of Quebec Infrastructure Projects—Which Member of the Government is Telling the Truth?

Liste des projets du Québec en infrastructure

Today the MNA representing La Pinière and Official Opposition Critic for Transport and the Conseil du Trésor, Mr. Gaétan Barrette, asked the government to submit a list to the National Assembly of the Quebec projects that are to be funded via the green infrastructure component of the Canada-Quebec Integrated Bilateral Agreement. All of the related correspondence was also requested as proof of transmission to the federal government.

Yesterday, we were treated to two contradictory versions of events from the government. The Premier first said that the list of projects had already been sent to the federal government, while the Vice-Premier later affirmed that the list was still a work in progress. While Quebecers deserve the truth, the CAQ government refused to submit the list and support the motion tabled by the MNA from La Pinière.

The government refused to unveil the priority list it allegedly sent to Ottawa. Parliamentarians and all Quebecers have the right to know what requests the CAQ has made to the federal government. The Premier says one thing and then the Vice-Premier says the exact opposite, so who in the government is telling the truth? Once again, the CAQ is creating a squabble with Ottawa and, at the end of the day, it’s citizens who will pay the price.

Text from the motion presented this morning by the MNA representing La Pinière:

“Whereas on May 15th the Vice-Premier affirmed that the list of Quebec projects to be financed via the green infrastructure component of the Canada-Quebec Integrated Bilateral Agreement was still a work in progress;

Whereas the Premier had affirmed earlier that day that the list in question had already been sent to the federal government;

I move that the National Assembly require the government to confirm the transmission and immediately submit the list of projects that was officially conveyed to the federal government, as well as the related correspondence as proof that it was sent.”
