En route to the 2018 general election

Montréal, May 28, 2018. – Surrounded by many party members and supporters, Marc Carrière was nominated as the official candidate for the Quebec Liberal Party (QLP) in the riding of Chapleau for the upcoming 2018 general election.

It is a privilege to be able to seek a fourth term from my fellow Chapleau residents. After 25 years of political life at the municipal and provincial levels, I continue day after day to defend their interests in Québec City, with the same passion and commitment as always.

Marc Carrière, Liberal candidate in the 2018 general election.

Note that the Liberal government has balanced our public finances to give us the means to invest more in our priorities. Since May 2014, more than 224,800 jobs have been created in Québec; the unemployment rate has been at an all-time low for several months; over 1,000,000 Quebecers now have access to a family doctor; taxes have decreased; and major investments have been made, particularly in health and education.

For the people of Chapleau, several important issues marked my most recent term as MNA. In health, for example, to facilitate the recruitment of doctors and improve access to care, there was the announcement of the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine in Gatineau. A new birthing centre was also created, in the aim of bringing health care back to our region. In addition, the people of Gatineau will, in the near future, benefit from better public transit service since the Rapibus corridor will be completed up to Lorrain Boulevard. A station and a park-and-ride lot will also be built at Lac-Beauchamp to facilitate access to public transit, representing an investment totalling nearly $30M. These are all achievements that will no doubt improve the quality of life of the people of Chapleau, and the next few years will certainly offer us many more challenges that I’ll be happy to work on.
