Marc Tanguay Appointed Interim Leader of the Quebec Liberal Party

The Party’s Executive Committee, with the assent of Liberal caucus members, has appointed Marc Tanguay Interim Leader of the Quebec Liberal Party.

Prior to becoming MNA for the riding of LaFontaine in 2012, Marc Tanguay worked as a commercial litigation lawyer, director of compliance and instructor at the École du Barreau du Québec. The former QLP President from 2009 to 2012, who was named Official Opposition House Leader on October 12, combines in-depth knowledge of Liberal party institutions with over 10 years of experience as a seasoned parliamentarian. During his political career, Marc Tanguay has been given various responsibilities, including as the Liberal critic for Justice, Access to Information, Family, Economy, Energy and Natural Resources.

“I’d like to thank the Party’s Executive Committee and my colleagues for the trust they have placed in me. I would also like to acknowledge the immense work accomplished by Dominique Anglade, a leader who significantly contributed to Quebec’s economic development, while being an excellent example of success for all women in Quebec. In the near future, will we undertake a process where members from all across Quebec and from various party institutions, as well as the Liberal caucus will be invited to contribute to relaunching our great party. The challenges are many, but as you are aware, over its 155-year history, the Quebec Liberal Party has always been able to reinvent itself. Today, I guarantee that together, we still have all the determination, leadership and experience to do so successfully once again.”

He is a long-standing Liberal supporter known for his unifying leadership style and his proximity with party institutions and members alike. I am very eager to go out and meet our Liberal members and supporters by his side.”
