En route to the 2018 general election

Québec City, June 4, 2018. – With great pride, Philippe Couillard, Leader of the Quebec Liberal Party (QLP) and Premier of Québec, announced the nomination of Marie France Trudel as the Quebec Liberal Party’s official candidate in the riding of Montmorency for the 2018 general election.

Marie France Trudel has lived in Montmorency since 1996, and founded her family here. As someone who loves to help others, she is very active in her community and has a clear understanding of the issues pertaining to her riding and its residents. Marie France has acquired solid experience over the last twelve years as a municipal councillor for the Sainte-Thérèse-de-Lisieux district. During her time in municipal politics, she has sat on many different committees and organizations. She has held the positions of Vice President of the Réseau de Transport de la Capitale, President of Québec City’s paratransit service (STAC), and President of the borough of Beauport. She has also been a member of the Charlevoix-Montmorency Watershed Organization, the Conseil de Bassin de la Rivière Beauport, the Commission Jeunes et Aînés, and the Commission Femmes et Ville, to name just a few. Her remarkable background in community work makes her the perfect candidate to represent the people of Montmorency.

Our track record in the region speaks for itself; the Capitale-Nationale region is at the top of the list in terms of Québec’s economic performance. Many projects have been completed and more are underway. We want to go even further for Québec and for the Capitale-Nationale region, and with candidates like Marie France, we will succeed. I recently promised that we will have the best team to present to voters in October. Today’s nomination demonstrates once again the quality of the team that we will be presenting to Quebecers.

– Philippe Couillard, Premier of Quebec.

My motivation for this new challenge is without a doubt the residents of the riding of Montmorency. I have always worked for them and for the good of the community. I will continue in the same direction. I am not afraid of the efforts that will be required to accomplish the task at hand and will tackle it with the enthusiasm and passion that I am known for. I look forward to working for you and with you.

– Marie France Trudel, Liberal candidate for the 2018 general elections.

Note that the Liberal government has balanced our public finances to give us the means to invest more in our priorities. Since May 2014, more than 224,800 jobs have been created in Québec; the unemployment rate has been at an all-time low for several months; over 1 million Quebecers now have access to a family doctor; taxes have decreased; and major investments have been made in health and education, in particular.

Her 12 years of experience in municipal politics, with the last four as President of the borough of Beauport, and her great knowledge of local organizations make Marie France an excellent candidate to serve the people of the riding of Montmorency in the upcoming general election.

– Raymond Bernier, MNA for Montmorency.
