Martin Prud’homme’s Suspension: A Disconcerting Situation

Quebec, March 6th, 2019. – The MNA representing Acadie and Official Opposition Critic for Public Security, Ms. Christine St-Pierre, is troubled by the situation surrounding Mr. Martin Prud’homme, the Director General of the Sûreté du Québec, and wants light to be shed on the matter without delay.

Ms. St-Pierre thinks that the Associate Secretary General at the Secrétariat aux emploi supérieurs within the Ministère des Conseil exécutif made a decision that any government would have to make in similar circumstances, that of temporarily suspending the Director General of the Sûreté du Québec, a police corps with close to 8000 employees.

The circumstances which led to Mr. Prud’homme’s temporary suspension raise a number of questions within the population. It is essential for the public to have answers quickly. The situation is disconcerting; it is imperative that light be shed on this issue so that public confidence in our institutions is maintained.
