En route to the 2018 general election

Laval, April 27, 2018. – Surrounded by more than 70 party members and supporters, Monique Sauvé was nominated as the official candidate for the Quebec Liberal Party (QLP) in the riding of Fabre for the upcoming general election of 2018.

I have the firm intention of continuing to represent the residents of Sainte-Dorothée, Îles-Laval, Laval-sur-le-Lac, Laval-Ouest, Fabreville-Ouest and the part of Chomedey west of 100e Avenue and north of Chemin du Souvenir. I care deeply about listening to them and making sure their voices are heard. My priorities as an MNA for two and a half years were those that emerged from my contact with residents.

– Monique Sauvé, MNA for Fabre and Liberal candidate for the general election of 2018.

Our track record in Fabre is very positive:

  • Establishment of the Sainte-Dorothée super-clinic and its new radiology service inaugurated on April 26, 2018;
  • Opening of the Carrefour santé 440;
  • Implementation of the intergenerational project “Le cœur n’a pas d’âge” (the heart is ageless) in the La Luciole residence with the organization Partage Humanitaire. In fact, this initiative is named in the 2018-2019 budget as an example of a forward-looking project;
  • Support for the Épifestif day in collaboration with Ferme Marineau and the Centrale des artistes;
  • Leadership provided along with the Comité des citoyens de Laval-Ouest in dealing with the Ville de Laval to map flood-prone areas;
  • Personalized responses provided to each resident coming to see us;
  • Close monitoring of REM construction progress in collaboration with the three residents’ committees in the riding;
  • Discussions started to facilitate access to Highway 13 and deal with congestion problems on Des Bois Avenue;
  • Maintenance of solid partnerships with various stakeholders and organizations in the riding;
  • Creation of a report on best practices to combat bullying in the riding;
  • Announcement of the rehabilitation of Louis-Bisson Bridge for a sum of up to $25 million;
  • Major investments in École Ste-Dorothée, École Raymond and École La Source nearing $2 million;
  • Discussions begun with the Société de transport de Laval to improve public transit in the industrial sectors;
  • Partnerships developed with elementary schools in the riding through the organization of various competitions to revitalize Marcel Gamache Park in Sainte-Dorothée;
  • More and more meetings with many representatives of the various cultural communities in the riding.

In 2015, I made 10 commitments to residents and each of them has been achieved. For 2018, I will propose new commitments inspired by our residents that directly affect their local reality. I am a boots-on-the-ground person. Residents see me at different events and they know that I am a proud ambassador of their concerns and that I fulfill my commitments.

– Monique Sauvé, MNA for Fabre and Liberal candidate for the general election of 2018.

Note that the Liberal government has balanced our public finances to give us the means to invest more in our priorities. Since May 2014, more than 238,600 jobs have been created in Quebec; the unemployment rate has been at an all-time low for several months; over 1,000,000 Quebecers now have access to a family doctor; taxes have decreased; and major investments have been made in health and education, in particular.
