Petits chanteurs du Mont-Royal: Isabelle Melançon presented a motion asking the government to save the Petits chanteurs du Mont-Royal

Petits Chanteurs du Mont-Royal

Today the MNA representing Verdun and Official Opposition Critic for Culture and Communications, Ms. Isabelle Melançon, questioned the government tabling a motion at the National Assembly asking the government to fulfill its duties and quickly offer adequate solutions to secure Les Petits Chanteurs du Mont-Royal’s mission as its viability is currently threatened.

Les petits chanteurs du Mont-Royal has been the pride of Quebec for over 60 years. Since its foundation, this institution has never ceased to stand out the whole world over. Its excellence is lauded everywhere.

Nathalie Roy, the Minister of Culture, should be the first in line to find solutions to preserve this gem of cultural and musical heritage! However, she has remained silent since March. I am asking the Minister to work with her colleague and Minister of Education, Mr. Jean-François Roberge, the Commission scolaire de Montréal and La Maîtrise to find a solution that will ensure that the institution is here to stay.

—Isabelle Melançon, MNA representing Verdun and Official Opposition Critic for Culture and Communications

Text of the motion presented by the MNA representing Verdun this morning:

“That the National Assembly recognize the excellence and sociocultural contributions made by Petits chanteurs du Mont-Royal;

That it commend the quality of the musical education that has been offered by the institution for decades;

That it ask the government to fulfill its duties and quickly suggest adequate solutions that will secure the institution’s mission.”
