The Quebec Liberal Party is happy to announce that Luc Fortin has agreed to preside over the Leadership Convention which will take place on May 30 and 31 at the Québec City Convention Centre. During this mandate, Mr. Fortin will be assisted by Marie-Eve Doyon, who will act as Vice-President of the event.

A proud QLP supporter for over 20 years, Luc Fortin was elected for the first time on April 7, 2014, as MNA representing the riding of Sherbrooke.

In January of 2016, at just 33 years old, he became a member of cabinet as Minister responsible for Recreation and Sport. Three weeks later, he became Minister of Culture and Communications. In 2017, the father of four was named Minister of Families.

In the life of a political party, choosing a new leader represents one of the most important and exciting moments for all supporters. This is even more true in this case, as it is the first time that the person who will lead our party will be elected via universal suffrage by party members. That’s why it’s such a great honour for me to preside over the organizing committee for the convention that will mark a new era in the Quebec Liberal Party’s history.

– Luc Fortin

It is also with a great deal of enthusiasm that Marie-Eve Doyon accepted the role of Vice-President for the convention that will provide the Quebec Liberal Party with a new leader.

Since her first foray into politics as a supporter in 2004, Ms. Doyon occupied various positions within a number of ministerial cabinets before returning to the private sector in 2010. As of 2018, she has been fuelling a political blog on the Journal de Montréal and Journal de Québec platforms and is a commentator for various radio stations.

I am very pleased to join my friend Luc Fortin and his entire team in the efforts to make this convention a success that will both interest and mobilize Liberal supporters. This leadership race is an opportunity for each supporter to have their voice heard and I am convinced that many of us will want to take part.

– Marie-Eve Doyon

Recall that the Leadership Convention, where the person who won the leadership race will be announced, will take place on May 30 and 31 at the Québec City Convention Centre. For the first time in the Party’s history, it is the members of the QLP who, through universal suffrage, will designate the next leader. All members registered prior to May 4 will be able to vote by telephone or via Internet.
