SHERBROOKE, QC, June 27, 2018 – In pursuit of its objective of improving the quality of life of families, the Government of Québec is implementing two new programs that will promote family-work-study balance (conciliation famille-travail-études, or CFTE), as well as a pilot project to improve the provision of childcare services for workers and parent-students with non-standard working hours. Luc Fortin, Minister of Families, Minister responsible for the Estrie region and MNA for Sherbrooke, made the announcement this morning.

The Programme de soutien financier en matière de conciliation famille-travail destiné aux milieux de travail aims to support employers and organizations that want to adopt good practices to improve the quality of life of workers with family responsibilities. The program will support employers in their implementation of family-work balance measures.

The purpose of the Programme de soutien financier en matière de CFTE destiné à certains milieux d’enseignement pour les parents-étudiants is to financially support school boards offering vocational training and adult education services as well as higher education institutions. This program will promote the adoption of good family-work-study balance practices to support parent-students and their successful completion of degrees or certifications.

The purpose of the childcare pilot project for non-standard working hours is to allow parents to try new childcare options in addition to those currently available in the childcare system. The pilot project presented today aims at experimenting within facilities. In the fall, a measure to support the development of home-based childcare services will be proposed.

Quote

Our government wants parents to have more time and flexibility so that they can find a better balance between the demands and responsibilities of their working life and effectively benefit from their education and family life. The measures announced today are incentives that will help employers and educational institutions improve the quality of life of Québec families.

– Luc Fortin, Minister of Families, Minister responsible for the Estrie region and MNA for Sherbrooke
