Quebec Family Week and International Family Day
QUÉBEC CITY, May 15, 2018 – The Minister of Families, Mr. Luc Fortin, is pleased to recognize Quebec Family Week, which takes place from May 14 to 20, 2018 on the theme Family, That’s What Counts!, as well as International Family Day, held every May 15 and whose theme this year is Families and inclusive societies.
On this occasion, the Minister moved a motion in the National Assembly to reaffirm the importance of family in our society, to express his appreciation to the people and organizations that dedicate themselves every day to the well-being of Québec families and to their full potential, and to reaffirm the government’s commitment to ensure quality of life for Québec families and to make their lives easier.
Yesterday, the Minister announced that the Government of Québec was investing $35.7 million in order to sustain increased funding for family-related community organizations, so that all Québec families can guide their children towards educational success.
Family is at the heart of our lives. Our government recognizes the importance of families and is taking a number of actions to improve their quality of life. Since the family-work-study balance is a top priority for us, we will keep working to make families’ lives easier by providing them with more flexibility and time. We will continue our efforts to better meet parents’ needs regarding educational childcare, and to ensure that these services are accessible and of good quality. We will also continue to act early to support the overall development of all children.
