The CAQ Has Abandoned an Important Regional Development Organization

La CAQ abandonne un important organisme de développement régional

Yesterday, after months of going back and forth on the question, the Minister responsible for Regional Development, Ms. Marie-Ève Proulx, announced via press release that she was axing the national network of regional innovation poles. From this decision we understand that regional economic development is not one of the government’s orientations or priorities.

Abolishing the national organization that coordinates innovation poles is certainly not the best way to support our regions. The network offers significant support to regional poles, which are the driving forces for entrepreneurial development throughout Quebec. Today the Coalition Avenir Québec is showing us once again that developing our regions is far from a priority for them and that Minister Proulx just doesn’t possess the necessary leadership to defend our regions at the cabinet Minister’s table.
