Quebec City, January 16, 2016. – The Premier of Quebec, Philippe Couillard, and the Minister of International Relations and la Francophonie, Christine St-Pierre, strongly condemn the terrorist attack in Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso, which killed many people, including six Quebecers.
Crimes that are so blatant and so brutal are inexplicable. On behalf of the people of Quebec, I offer my deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims, and I offer my best wishes for a quick recovery to the persons who were wounded in the attack. Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time. These reprehensible acts remind us that we must never compromise our values of freedom, democracy and tolerance. For the Burkina Faso victims, and for all others cut down in this terrible way, we have the duty to continue to defend our principles.
