The MNA representing Vimont and Official Opposition Critic for Public Security, Mr. Jean Rousselle, as well as the MNA representing Acadie and Official Opposition Critic responsible for the Laurentides Region, Ms. Christine St-Pierre, are asking for road blocks to be set up so that the region can avoid being declared a red zone.

The Official Opposition is asking the government to listen to local authorities who are concerned about the significant stream of visitors from sectors that have been hard hit by COVID-19.

Nothing has come of the demands made to the government by local officials. I am begging the Minister of Public Security to listen to them and to look at all possibilities for limiting access to the sector to residents, cottage owners and clients of ski resorts .

—Mr. Jean Rousselle, MNA representing Vimont and Official Opposition Critic for Public Security.

People in the area don’t want the pandemic to spread here. Up to this point, Saint-Sauveur and Sainte-Adèle have been relatively spared by the virus. It’s only logical to do everything possible to avoid this region switching to a red zone, which would impact citizens’ health and the area’s economic vitality.

—Ms. Christine St-Pierre, MNA representing Acadie and Official Opposition Critic responsible for the Laurentides Region.
