The QLP Proposes Establishing a Fast Track for the Green Economy

Le PLQ propose la mise en place d’une voie rapide pour l’économie verte

The MNA representing Maurice-Richard and Official Opposition Critic for Environment, the Fight Against Climate Change, and Agriculture, Marie Montpetit, proposed implementing a fast track to help Quebec businesses developing green technologies to have rapid access to certain forms of government funding or assistance.

For the Liberal Party, the economy and the environment go hand in hand. Entrepreneurs have told us about the difficulties they face in their dealings with the government. We have many innovative companies in Quebec who contribute to reducing green house gas emissions and it is essential that we support them by eliminating the obstacles they encounter with various ministries. That’s why we are proposing the establishment of a fast track to accelerate processing times for companies who offer concrete solutions. Technological innovation is one of the keys to fighting climate change and that’s why we need to support their development quickly and effectively.

—Marie Montpetit, MNA representing Maurice-Richard and Official Opposition Critic for Environment, the Fight Against Climate Change, and Agriculture

Quebec must continue to be a leader defending the environment and the green economy, which is why the Quebec Liberal Party continues to offer the government concrete solutions. This fast track for businesses is one of many suggestions made by the Official Opposition over the last few weeks, such as the bill on overpacking and a green shift at the National Assembly.

Recall that the previous Liberal government had taken an additional step forward to help the green economy sector develop by proposing a budget of $147.5M over five years in the action plan for growth and clean technology, an initiative for which the Coalition Avenir Québec government has unfortunately taken no further action.
