The Quebec Liberal Party Wants to Create a Real Public Psychotherapy Program

We are currently experiencing an explosion in the number of people dealing with mental health issues. To face this challenge, the Quebec Liberal Party is proposing to implement a free, public psychotherapy program. The QLP Leader, Dominique Anglade wants to promote access to quality mental health care for all Quebecers.

The pandemic generated a significant rise in the number of people contending with mental health issues and the Quebec Liberal Party is proposing concrete solutions to shorten the waiting lists for care and make care more accessible to the population at large. A public psychotherapy program would provide up to 15 sessions per year with a professional who is trained to offer the required care.

Thus, people with anxiety or depression, for example, would first be assessed and then referred to a psychotherapist who could provide the appropriate care, free of charge. According to Ms. Anglade, the government has a responsibility to provide all its citizens with equal access to care for what has come to be known as the ailment of the century.

At the Quebec Liberal Party, we have long understood that mental health issues must be addressed in the same manner as physical health problems. With that in mind, all Quebecers should have access to quality care, regardless of their income. If you, too, want to tackle this issue with a real solution, vote for real!
