Characteristics of Quebec’s aerospace industry:

  • 40,000 jobs;
  • 190 companies;
  • $15.5 billion in annual sales;
  • 50% of Canada’s total sales.

The Strategy in numbers:

  • $2.8 billion in economic benefits;
  • Government support in the amount of $510 million for the first five years.

4 areas of intervention :

1. Reinforce and diversify the structure of the industry;

2. Support the growth of the industry by supporting projects and investing in the workforce;

3. Accompany small-and-medium-sized businesses in their development;

4. Focus on innovation.

  1. Attract Level I et Level II foremen and suppliers;
  2. Promote and reinforce the public safety and defense sectors;
  3. Develop the drone sector and its civilian applications;
  4. Support new projects;
  5. Invest in the workforce;
  6. Encourage small-and-medium-sized businesses to become cutting-edge 4.0 companies;
  7. Encourage mergers and acquisitions;
  8. Stimulate exports;
  9. Promote the development of new products and procedures;
  10. Encourage innovation to flourish among small-and-medium-sized businesses.

Longueuil, May 30, 2016 – Philippe Couillard and Dominique Anglade launched Quebec’s Aerospace Strategy, which will produce more than $2.8 billion in economic benefits.  The Government of Quebec is investing $510 million in this new strategy, which is designed to reinforce and to diversify the structure of the industry, to support its growth by encouraging new projects, and invest in the aerospace workforce, while accompanying small-and-medium-sized businesses, helping them to grow and focusing on innovation.
