Hooked on School Days 2019

QUEBEC, February 11, 2019. – The MNA for Saint-Laurent and Official Opposition Critic for Education, Higher Education and the Digital Strategy, Marwah Rizqy, was part of the launch for the 2019 edition of Hooked on School Days at Lévis-Sauvé School in Verdun, alongside her colleagues Isabelle Melançon, MNA for Verdun, and Jennifer Maccarone, Official Opposition Critic for Families. She congratulated young people who reach above and beyond each day, overcoming the obstacles they face as they chart their paths to the future. As last week marked the 25th anniversary of Teacher Appreciation Week, Ms. Rizqy also took the opportunity underscore the invaluable role that school staff members play in motivating young people.

In keeping with the Hooked on School Days theme “Our Actions, A+ in Their Success”, Ms. Rizqy made a concrete commitment to help keep young people in school; she offered support for Saint-Laurent’s l’Express basketball teams.  Ms. Rizqy is a firm believer that it takes a village to raise a child, so she encouraged parents, teachers, staff within the education network, employers and all regional stakeholders to continue their efforts.

I’ll visit Saint-Laurent high school as part of Hooked on School Days. I want to encourage both the students, who constantly impress me by their strength of character and determination, and the staff, who deftly guide those students toward their futures. We have methods for encouraging students to stay in school right at our fingertips. Let’s work together and make it happen!
