Marie-Claude Nichols will continue to provide a strong voice for her fellow citizens of Vaudreuil
The Liberal Critic for Municipal Affairs and Housing has been representing her fellow citizens of Vaudreuil since 2014. Marie-Claude Nichols is strongly committed to enhancing collaboration between the municipal and provincial spheres and, as a former mayor and prefect herself, she took part in meetings with various elected officials throughout Quebec during consultations for the QLP’s Charter for Regions.
In the context of the housing crisis, the Liberal MNA for Vaudreuil lent her voice to Quebecers living in housing within the framework of Bill 37, An Act to amend various legislative provisions principally respecting housing tabled by the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Andrée Laforest, who ended up backing down on her decision to reduce the rent adjustment period from 5 to 3 years for landlords renting a new dwelling to tenants, without knowing the impact of this change that the CAQ wanted to introduce.
Marie-Claude Nichols was also behind the tabling of 2 bills, respectively An Act to reinforce oversight of the processes to select, renew a term or dismiss directors of municipal police forces and An Act to set a standard for the maximum concentration of manganese in drinking water.
