With eight years of experience in Laval municipal politics, Michel Trottier wants to help build a greener, more humane and better developed environment for Sainte-Rose
Leader of the Official Opposition at Laval’s City Hall and municipal councillor for the Marc-Aurèle Fortin and Fabreville districts between 2013 and 2021, Michel Trottier was Vice-President of the Association Montréalaise des Directions d’Établissements Scolaires, an educator and manager for many schools in the metropolitan area. A dedicated education, he began his career in physical education and then worked with students in welcome classes. Following a career in education spanning more than 20 years, Michel Trottier devoted himself to municipal politics to contribute to building a more inclusive and just society for all.
A resident of the Sainte-Rose area for over 35 years, the father of four is actively involved in community life, notably as president of the neighbourhood residents’ association, where he has developed several local initiatives to improve his fellow citizens, quality of life. His desire to contribute to riding’s development for its current citizens and the next generations are what motivated his decision to enter active municipal politics in 2013 as an independent candidate.
Having been the regional manager of the “Québec en Forme” organization for the Laval, Lanaudière, Laurentides and Montreal regions for eight years, Michel Trottier is committed to promoting physical activity and healthy lifestyles. As a city councillor, Michel Trottier contributed to the recognition of Laval as a “Bike Friendly” city and to the development of the bicycle network for Laval residents. He also supported the importance of keeping junk food away from schools in the city. An annual participant of the Champfleury race, Michel Trottier wants all citizens to have the opportunity to actively enjoy their neighbourhood and their city.
The Liberal candidate strongly believes in the importance of local services. For Michel Trottier, politics must be accessible, participatory and innovative. The family man is committed to his community and wants to put all his professional and community experience at the service of his fellow citizens of Sainte-Rose in order to enthusiastically carry their priorities to the National Assembly.
