An immigrant mother originally from Cameroon and a fully integrated Quebecer, she embodies a calm, thoughtful, and rigorous leadership style grounded in integrity, responsibility, and respect for human dignity. Reserved yet determined, she prioritizes listening, collaboration, and the pursuit of sustainable solutions\u2014qualities essential to serving the public good. Driven by a deep sense of public service, she now hopes to put all her expertise to work for the citizens of Les Plaines.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\">Her international academic background\u2014a master\u2019s degree in the humanities and a master\u2019s degree in international human rights law from Lyon, a master\u2019s degree in sociology from Cameroon, and a bachelor\u2019s degree in social work from the University of Montreal\u2014gives her a solid understanding of public policy and governance mechanisms.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\">At the CIUSSS de l\u2019Est-de-l\u2019\u00cele-de-Montr\u00e9al, she supports people facing mental health challenges and handles complex situations that require sound judgment, composure, and leadership. Her experience at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees has also enabled her to develop recognized expertise in legal analysis, the defense of fundamental rights, and the management of particularly sensitive situations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\">A resident of Terrebonne, Ms. Owona serves on several boards of directors and is actively involved with the R\u00e9seau des femmes en Action, where she helps promote women\u2019s leadership and celebrate diversity. Mental health and access to social services are at the heart of her political commitment, as are the defense of fundamental rights and good governance. Her background as an immigrant and her identity as a Black woman have fostered a particular sensitivity to issues of equity, but it is as a fully integrated Quebecer that she hopes to bring to the National Assembly a unifying, compassionate voice deeply rooted in the community, serving all citizens of Les Plaines.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\">\u201cMy journey has taught me that behind every case, there is a person, a family, a story. Whether working with people in psychological distress or refugees seeking protection, I have seen what attentive listening and diligence can accomplish.
