She will be officially nominated as a candidate at a party rally on July 22.

A Montreal resident originally from Ontario, the political analyst and former elected official is making the leap into provincial politics under the banner of the Quebec Liberal Party.

Ms. McIntyre began her political career at the municipal level as a city councilor for the Bois-de-Liesse district in the Pierrefonds-Roxboro borough, representing Vrai Changement Montréal. In 2015, she served as interim party leader, a role she held until 2021. During her time in municipal politics, she distinguished herself in particular through her work on environmental issues, successfully passing a historic motion to ban the use of neonicotinoid pesticides—a measure that was subsequently incorporated into the City of Montreal’s regulations.

Justine McIntyre holds a bachelor’s degree in music from McGill University and a certificate in arts and nonprofit management from the University of Washington. In 2022, she earned a master’s degree in management and sustainable development from HEC Montréal.

After her stint in local politics, this mother of three continued her career as a consultant in strategic planning and sustainable development for municipalities and organizations. She is now a co-founder of Civica Stratégies, a strategic consulting firm specializing in public affairs, communications, and political strategy. At the same time, she regularly appears as a political analyst and columnist in various media outlets, including Radio-Canada, Noovo, CBC, CTV, and CJAD.

Driven by the values of service and local action, the QLP candidate in Sainte-Marie–Saint-Jacques has always been actively involved in her community. In particular, she has worked in communications for Dans la rue, an organization that helps homeless youth, as well as for the Fonds du Souvenir, which supports veterans. She serves on the board of directors of Garage à musique, a social pediatrics organization located in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve neighborhood.

“The development of my community and the protection of our environment are deeply important to me. In fact, that is what motivated my involvement in municipal politics—the level of government closest to the people. In my view, Charles Milliard’s Quebec Liberal Party represents the best political option for building a more prosperous, greener, and more collaborative Quebec. As a former Montreal city councilor, I am convinced that Quebec’s future depends on a genuine partnership with municipalities, a strong metropolitan area, and a government that works collaboratively with its communities and with the rest of Canada.”

— Justine McIntyre, QLP candidate in Sainte-Marie–Saint-Jacques

“Justine McIntyre’s arrival is excellent news, both for the voters of Sainte-Marie–Saint-Jacques and for the greater Montreal area as a whole. As an elected municipal official, she has had a front-row seat to the issues that concern Quebecers, particularly when it comes to housing. We share the same commitment to rebuilding the broken bond of trust between Quebec City and the municipalities. Her on-the-ground experience, her understanding of municipal realities, and her communication skills are valuable assets to our team. I welcome her to our team!”

- Charles Milliard, Leader of the Quebec Liberal Party

"_seopress_social_twitter_img_attachment_id":0
[114

173,174

post-24433","communique","type-communique","status-publish","circonscription-sainte-marie-saint-jacques","langue-francais","langue-anglais
["GET
