A significant portion of the new projects will be reserved for the most vulnerable populations, particularly people experiencing homelessness, youth leaving the protection of the DPJ, seniors, students, and second-stage housing for women who are victims of domestic violence. The goal is to deliver 10,000 units per year by the end of the term.

In addition, a liberal government will set a goal of increasing the share of non-market housing to 20% of the market by 2050.

To reduce the cost per unit and speed up delivery, the Quebec Liberal Party will enhance and optimize existing programs and propose a prequalification process for nonprofit organizations, standardized unit plans, and a target of 50 percent prefabricated construction.

These commitments are part of the Quebec Liberal Party leader, Mr. Charles Milliard’s, commitment to take concrete action to curb the housing crisis and achieve the ambitious goal of eventually building 100,000 housing units per year. To achieve this, a Liberal government will expand initiatives to increase housing supply and will work to accelerate construction, reduce costs, develop the prefabricated housing market, and support cities with development potential. All Quebecers will benefit from this, as the ongoing housing crisis is leading to an affordability crisis.

“After denying the housing crisis for years, the CAQ remains deeply out of touch with the reality faced by Quebecers, who are struggling to find decent housing due to the nearly 50% increase in average rent since 2018. The shortage of affordable housing in Quebec is glaring. The Quebec Liberal Party has the vision, the team, and the plan needed to resolve this crisis once and for all.”

- Charles Milliard, Leader of the Quebec Liberal Party

Summary of Commitments:

Add 40,000 affordable units to the rental housing stock by adopting a coordinated approach that combines new construction and acquisitions;

Set aside a significant portion of new projects for the most vulnerable populations, particularly people experiencing homelessness, people with disabilities, youth leaving the DPJ system, seniors, students, and second-stage services for women who are victims of domestic violence;

Set a goal of increasing the share of housing outside the market to 20% by 2050.

"_seopress_social_twitter_img_attachment_id":0
[133
177
173
156
post-25136","communique","type-communique","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","circonscription-chef","dossier-logements","langue-francais","nouvelle-a-la-une-oui
["GET
