Laval, September 7, 2026<\/strong> \u2013 During a visit to Laval, Charles Milliard announced today that a Liberal government will prioritize the expansion and modernization of the Cit\u00e9-de-la-Sant\u00e9 in order to increase Laval\u2019s hospital capacity and better meet the growing needs of its population.<\/p>\n

The Cit\u00e9-de-la-Sant\u00e9 is Laval\u2019s only hospital and currently serves more than 460,000 people. However, while Laval\u2019s population has grown significantly over the past few decades, the hospital\u2019s capacity has not kept pace. For patients, this all too often means waiting on a stretcher before being admitted to a room. For families, it means supporting a loved one in a hospital that is constantly operating under pressure. And for the staff, it means having to provide the best possible care in facilities that no longer meet Laval\u2019s current needs.<\/p>\n

\u201cLaval has grown, but its hospital hasn\u2019t kept pace. The people of Laval shouldn\u2019t have to put up with crowded hallways and a hospital that lacks space simply because investments haven\u2019t kept pace with their region\u2019s growth. Laval deserves better, and we\u2019re going to move this project forward.\u201d \u2013 Charles Milliard, leader of the Quebec Liberal Party<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Specifically, the expansion will provide greater capacity to admit and treat patients, reduce pressure on the emergency department, and improve the conditions under which care is provided. The modernization will also provide facilities better suited to families, children, and patients requiring specialized care, particularly in perinatal care, pediatrics, neonatology, and mental health.<\/p>\n
