{"id":25273,"date":"2026-09-12T11:04:42","date_gmt":"2026-09-12T15:04:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/plq.org\/?post_type=communique&#038;p=25273"},"modified":"2026-09-12T12:13:04","modified_gmt":"2026-09-12T16:13:04","slug":"prevenir-cest-guerir-a-chaque-etape-de-la-vie-on-previent-la-maladie","status":"publish","type":"communique","link":"https:\/\/plq.org\/en\/communique\/prevenir-cest-guerir-a-chaque-etape-de-la-vie-on-previent-la-maladie\/","title":{"rendered":"Pr\u00e9venir, c\u2019est gu\u00e9rir : \u00e0 chaque \u00e9tape de la vie, on pr\u00e9vient la maladie"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Trois-Rivi\u00e8res, September 12, 2026<\/strong> \u2013 The leader of the Quebec Liberal Party, Charles Milliard, has pledged to make prevention a true priority in healthcare by gradually increasing the share of spending allocated to it to 5% by the end of the next decade.<\/p>\n<p>While our healthcare system is largely structured to intervene once a disease has already developed, the Quebec Liberal Party wants to shift the focus to better prevention, earlier detection, and helping Quebecers live longer, healthier lives.<\/p>\n<p>This increase will, in particular, make it possible to expand organized screening programs for certain cancers, strengthen chronic disease prevention and vaccination efforts, and invest more in healthy lifestyles.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rather than waiting for Quebecers to get sick, the healthcare system will reach out to them more proactively.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A Liberal government will create a Quebec Prevention Pathway to support residents throughout their lives. Residents will automatically receive personalized invitations for screenings, vaccinations, and preventive interventions recommended based on their age, gender, and risk factors.<\/p>\n<p>The Quebec Liberal Party will also support the \u201ctime-out\u201d proposed by Pierre Lavoie and the Coalition for the Future of Sports and Physical Activity in Quebec, in order to rally all stakeholders around a common goal: to get Quebecers to be more active and to bring about lasting changes in their lifestyles.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u00ab <em>Our system will always be there to care for Quebecers when they are sick. But it must also be much more involved before they get sick.
