According to reports, the child was suffering from severe stomach pain, and his family reportedly contacted the local clinic several times to seek help. He was eventually transferred to Montreal, where he died.<\/p>\n
This tragedy underscores the urgent need to improve access to health care in northern communities. Upon becoming leader of the Quebec Liberal Party, Charles Milliard proposed improving access to care through telemedicine, particularly for Quebecers living in remote areas. This solution would, in particular, allow residents of Northern Quebec to gain faster access to a healthcare professional.<\/p>\n

The people of Ungava should never have to worry about whether they\u2019ll have access to the care they need just because of where they live. What has happened is deeply distressing. We need answers, but above all, we need concrete action so that our families can have confidence in their healthcare system.\u201d<\/p>\n
