QUÉBEC CITY, April 6, 2018 – According to the latest data, 16,000 jobs were created in Quebec last March. Never in the history of Quebec has the full-time employment rate for people aged 15 and over been so high, with 3,515,000 people employed.

Minister of Employment and Social Solidarity François Blais, who went over the most recent employment data published by Statistics Canada today, pointed out that this progress in employment brings the number of jobs created since the government’s election to 238,600.

The most recent employment data shows that the economy is working at full strength and that jobs are being created everywhere in Quebec, thanks to the energy of our businesses and the competence of our workers. Our government will continue to be proactive to maintain this strong performance. Quebec’s Economic Plan, presented last month, provides for investments of $810 million between now and 2023 for the implementation of the Quebec workforce strategy, which will be unveiled shortly.

  • The unemployment rate remained stable in March at 5.6%.
  • The employment rate for 15- to 64-year-olds reached a record high in March at 75.9%.
  • The participation rate for 15- to 64-year-olds in March was 80.2%, a record high.
