Saint-Hubert, May 8, 2026 - In the presence of Quebec Liberal Party leader Charles Milliard, Affine Lwalalika was officially nominated as the QLP candidate in the Vachon riding.

A resident of Saint-Hubert since 2010, Ms. Lwalalika is making the leap into provincial politics to wear the colors of the Quebec Liberal Party and represent her fellow citizens in the Vachon riding on Montreal's South Shore.

A law graduate from Université de Montréal, Ms. Lwalalika began her professional career in the financial sector from 2005 to 2016. She also held communications positions in the office of the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Quebec, in addition to serving as executive assistant to the Mayor of Longueuil and her chief of staff for nearly two years. From 2019 to 2021, she was also responsible for institutional and public affairs for the Mayor of Brossard.

In 2021, she entered municipal politics as a member of Catherine Fournier's team. Once elected, she sat on the Ville de Longueuil executive committee from 2021 to 2025, responsible for culture, family, immigration and intercultural relations, as well as the status of women. Affine Lwalalika represents district 16, Parc-de-la-Cité, located in the Saint-Hubert borough. Re-elected last November, she has finally chosen to join the new leader of the Quebec Liberal Party, Charles Milliard, for the next general election in October 2026.

In addition to politics, Ms. Lwalalika has also been involved in the citizen movement Sécurité Ferroviaire Rive-Sud, as well as in the immigration and integration committee of the Communauté congolaise de Montréal (COCOM).

"After several years of involvement as a municipal councillor with the City of Longueuil, I feel it's time for me to make the leap to the next level by joining Charles Milliard's team and the Quebec Liberal Party. As a mother of two, I believe we must do more for the next generation, especially when it comes to public services. Having worked in the municipal sector for many years, I know the realities on the ground for the citizens of Vachon, and it will be the honour of my life to be able to continue to represent them, this time in the Quebec National Assembly."

"Our Liberal team is growing! We're announcing another fine candidate with the arrival of Affine Lwalalika to our team. With her experience in the municipal world of one of Quebec's major municipalities, she is familiar with the workings of a large institution, while being very close to the concrete issues that affect the population. The citizens of Saint-Hubert have twice placed their confidence in her, and we intend this momentum to continue, because we need people of Affine Lwalalika's calliber to carry through our ambitions to improve our relations with municipalities and do more for our young people and seniors."
