Montreal, May 30, 2026 - Enrico Ciccone was officially nominated as the QLP candidate for the Marquette riding in the presence of many local activists.
Mr. Ciccone is seeking a third term as MNA for Marquette. Over the past eight years, he has been the official opposition critic for sports, recreation, the outdoors and healthy lifestyles, anti-bullying, social solidarity and community action. He is also Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture, Fisheries, Energy and Natural Resources.
A professional hockey player for ten years in the National Hockey League (NHL), Mr. Ciccone played for several teams, including the Montreal Canadiens, Washington Capitals and Tampa Bay Lightning, playing 387 games on the Bettman circuit. After his on-ice career, he turned to the sports media as an analyst and host, notably for ICI Radio-Canada, TVA Sports, LCN and 91.9 Sports, including during the 2018 Pyeong Chang Olympic Games. Driven by a desire to better protect young athletes, he made the leap into provincial politics in 2018 and was elected MNA for Marquette for his first term.
Throughout his two mandates, the MNA for Marquette has convincingly championed youth and sports safety issues at the National Assembly. In particular, he introduced three pioneering bills: the first aimed at banning fighting in youth sports (PL196), the second introducing the Passe-Sports register in order to better track concussions in under-18s (PL692), and the third modifying certain regulations to better protect athletes in combat sports (PL492). He also set up the Marquette MNA Hockey Tournament, benefiting community organizations in Lachine and Dorval.
Mr. Ciccone's commitment extends far beyond politics. He has been a member of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) Development Program and Collège Boisbriand. He is also a spokesperson for the Centre de prévention suicide des Laurentides and the Institut des troubles d'apprentissage (ITA). He lives in the Marquette riding with his wife.
