Biography
Marie-Claude Nichols has been serving the citizens of Vaudreuil as an MNA since 2014. As a former mayor and prefect, Marie-Claude Nichols is strongly committed to improving cooperation between the municipal and provincial levels of government, and took part in meetings with elected officials across Quebec during the PLQ's Charter of the Regions consultation tour.
Against the backdrop of the housing crisis, the Liberal MP for Vaudreuil lent her voice to Quebecers living in housing in the context of Bill 37 of the Act to amend various legislative provisions principally respecting housing, tabled by the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Andrée Laforest, who ended up backing down on her decision to shorten the rent adjustment period for landlords owning new housing units from 5 to 3 years, without knowing the impact of this change, which the CAQ wanted to put forward.
Marie-Claude Nichols also initiated the tabling of 2 bills: An Act to strengthen the framework for the selection, reappointment and dismissal of a municipal police force director, and An Act to set a standard for the maximum concentration of manganese in drinking water.
