Longueuil, May 16, 2026 - In the presence of Quebec Liberal Party MNAs Marc Tanguay and Linda Caron, Lyes Chekal was officially nominated as the QLP candidate in the Marie-Victorin riding.
After more than a decade as a resident of Longueuil, Lyes Chekal is running to represent the citizens of Marie-Victorin for a second time, under the Liberal banner. Graduating with a bachelor's degree in financial sciences in 1996, he has a solid background in administrative management. He also holds a bachelor's degree in communications (animation and cultural research) from UQAM, obtained in 2018, enabling him to master social dynamics and public relations. Finally, he has completed an undergraduate microprogram in management and community leadership at the Université de Sherbrooke, Longueuil campus.
He is currently Executive Director of Ressources Saint-Jean-Vianney since 2019. The mission of this organization is to provide assistance, services and support to disadvantaged individuals and families in the Saint-Jean-Vianney district of Longueuil.
For him, social justice, inclusion and support for the most vulnerable are at the heart of his commitment to his community. His involvement was recently recognized when he was awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal for his contribution to strengthening the social fabric of his community and promoting intercultural sharing and respect.
A committed manager and builder, he aspires to be the voice of his fellow citizens in the Marie-Victorin riding next fall.
