Montreal, April 27, 2026 - In the presence of the leader of the Quebec Liberal Party, Charles Milliard, and a number of local activists, Madwa-Nika Cadet was officially nominated as the QLP candidate in the Bourassa-Sauvé riding.

A native of Montreal, Ms. Cadet is seeking a second term as MNA for Bourassa-Sauvé. Over the past four years, she has served as Official Opposition critic for education, the French language, labor, culture and communications, and anti-racism. She is also Vice-Chair of the Public Finance Committee.

A lawyer by training and a member of the Quebec Bar since 2014, Ms. Cadet holds a bachelor's degree in law from the Université de Sherbrooke and an MBA from the same university. She also holds a master's degree in public policy from Georgetown University in the United States. She worked as an analyst at the World Bank from 2016 to 2018, before practicing as a lawyer at Dentons Canada from 2018 to 2020. In 2022, she made the leap into provincial politics, where she was elected MNA for her riding for her first term.

The MNA for Bourassa-Sauvé has been involved with the Quebec Liberal Party for many years. She first served as President of the Quebec Liberal Party Youth Commission in 2013-2014. Nearly a decade later, this time as an MNA, Ms. Cadet co-chairs the QLP's revival committee with André Pratte.

Ms. Cadet's commitment extends beyond politics. Over the years, she has served on the boards of Centraide of Greater Montreal and the Fondation des Offices jeunesse internationaux du Québec. She was also co-founder of the Montreal Afro-Canadian Cultural Centre, laureate of Quebec Black History Month and ambassador of inclusive governance for Concertation Montréal.

"I'm very excited about the idea of running for a second term in the riding of Bourassa-Sauvé. Over the past four years, I've had the honor of championing a number of issues that are close to my heart: education, the French language and the fight against racism. I intend to continue my commitment under the leadership of our new leader, Charles Milliard, in whom I have complete confidence. Charles is breathing new life into the Liberal Party, and that's one of the main reasons I supported his candidacy in the 2025 leadership race."

"For four years now, the Liberal caucus has been fortunate to be able to count on Madwa-Nika's presence around the table. However, her involvement with our political party goes back a long way. First as president of the CJPLQ, she was also one of the main architects of the party's re-launch committee. As spokesperson for the Francophonie and the French language, Madwa embodies the federalist nationalism that we are promoting in the Quebec Liberal Party. I look forward to campaigning alongside her next fall!"
- Charles Milliard, Leader of the Quebec Liberal Party
