Vaudreuil-Dorion, May 19, 2026 - In the presence of Charles Milliard, leader of the Quebec Liberal Party, and a number of local activists, Marie-Claude Nichols was officially nominated as the QLP candidate in the Vaudreuil riding.
A resident of the Vaudreuil region for over 30 years, Ms. Nichols is seeking a fourth term as MNA for her riding. In recent years, she has served as Official Opposition critic for municipal affairs, housing and public safety. She is currently Chair of the Commission des transports et de l'environnement, a member of the Commission de l'aménagement du territoire and a member of the Commission de l'Assemblée nationale.
A lawyer by training and a member of the Quebec Bar, Ms. Nichols began her political career at the municipal level, first as mayor of the Town of Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot in 2009. In this capacity, she also held the position of Prefect of the Vaudreuil-Soulanges RCM, as well as being President of the Conseil des arts et de la culture de Vaudreuil-Soulanges and Vice-President of the CRÉ Vallée-du-Haut-Saint-Laurent. She finally made the leap into provincial politics in 2014 as a candidate under the Liberal banner, the year she was elected MNA for the Vaudreuil riding for the first time.
As a member of the Couillard government, Marie-Claude Nichols held the positions of Deputy Government Whip from 2016 to 2018 and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Sustainable Development, Environment and the Fight against Climate Change.
"I've been involved in politics for nearly 16 years, serving the citizens of Vaudreuil at both municipal and provincial levels. I know the people here, their issues and their expectations of their government. The next election promises to be decisive, and I believe that, under the leadership of our new leader Charles Milliard, we can aspire to win the election and form the next government."
