Michelle Setlakwe, official candidate of the Quebec Liberal Party in Mont-Royal-Outremont

Montreal, April 13, 2026 - In the presence of the leader of the Quebec Liberal Party, Charles Milliard, and a number of local activists, Michelle Setlakwe was officially nominated as the QLP candidate in the riding of Mont-Royal-Outremont.

A native of Thetford Mines who has lived in Mont-Royal-Outremont for over 30 years, Ms. Setlakwe is seeking a second term as the riding's MNA. Over the past four years, she has served as Official Opposition critic for higher education, municipal affairs, privacy, cybersecurity and digital issues. She is also the spokesperson responsible for the Chaudière-Appalaches region, in addition to being the Chair of the Official Opposition Caucus.

Trained as a lawyer and a member of the Bar since 1996, Ms. Setlakwe practiced business law at the prestigious firm Norton Rose Fulbright for over a decade, before becoming a corporate lawyer at Transat A.T. Inc. Inc. Her political involvement began in 2016, when she became a municipal councillor for the Town of Mount Royal, a position she held until 2021. She then made the leap into provincial politics in 2022, when she was elected for her first term as the MNA for her riding.

Ms. Setlakwe's commitment extends beyond politics. She has volunteered with the Fondation du CHU Sainte-Justine, Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf and Duceppe. She was also a member of the Board of Directors and President of the Fondation Saint-Clément from 2010 to 2017. In this capacity, she was twice awarded the Prix France-Racicot, for her commitment to the foundation and her years of volunteer work in the Saint-Clément schools of Ville Mont-Royal.
