Philippe Couillard presents Alexandre Boulay, Liberal candidate in the riding of Gaspé

En route to the 2018 general election

Gaspé, June 27, 2018. – With great pride, Philippe Couillard, Leader of the Quebec Liberal Party (QLP) and Premier of Québec, announced the nomination of Alexandre Boulay as the QLP’s official candidate in the riding of Gaspé for the 2018 general election.

Alexandre Boulay was born, raised and still lives with his family in Rivière-au-Renard. As a result of his commitment to his region’s development, he immediately returned to work in Gaspésie following his studies in materials engineering and metallurgy at Université Laval. Alexandre has extensive experience with the region’s economy. He held the position of Plant Manager at LM Wind Power, the largest private employer in Gaspésie. He also chaired the Gaspésie–Îles-de-la-Madeleine Wind Energy Cluster. His experience in the region has allowed him to develop extensive knowledge of the issues and realities of the riding of Gaspé. His remarkable background in community work makes him the perfect candidate to represent the residents of Gaspé.

I am very proud to be the Liberal candidate in the riding of Gaspé. Today, I offer my services to the people of the RCMs of La Haute-Gaspésie, Rocher-Percé and La Côte-de-Gaspé in order to continue my involvement in the development of our beautiful region. Having already built the largest private employer in Gaspésie over the years, I intend to use my experience, vision and passion to serve my fellow residents of the riding of Gaspé. I want to continue my commitment at another level in order to develop our full economic potential.

Note that the Liberal government has balanced our public finances to give us the means to invest more in our priorities. Since May 2014, more than 229,500 jobs have been created in Québec; the unemployment rate has been at an all-time low for several months; over 1 million Quebecers now have access to a family doctor; taxes have decreased; and major investments have been made in health and education, in particular.

Alexandre deeply loves Gaspésie and has always been keen to see it grow, develop and innovate. He knows his region and the issues that workers, entrepreneurs and families face every day. He is committed to working every day to improve their quality of life. We presented the best team in 2014, and we will present the best team in 2018. A team that combines youth and experience. A team made up of candidates who are ambitious, visionary and deeply rooted in their communities.

Alexandre is an accomplished businessman who has contributed to the economic development and influence of his native Gaspésie, especially in the wind energy sector. Building on his successes, he now wishes to use his experience and energy to serve both the residents of the riding of Gaspé and all Gaspésiens. I am sure they will find in him a hard worker who is devoted to their interests and able to effectively represent them at the National Assembly.
