En route to the 2018 general election

Verdun, May 27, 2018. – Surrounded by many party members, supporters and elected representatives, Isabelle Melançon was nominated as the official candidate for the Quebec Liberal Party (QLP) in the riding of Verdun for the upcoming 2018 general election.

Since my last election campaign, my credo has always been ‘Representation in Québec City, action in Verdun!’ Verdun is a riding with a dynamic population that deserves to have representation that measures up to its ambitions. I will proudly continue to work in collaboration with community organizations and all levels of government not only to promote student retention, but also to meet the other needs of Verdun residents.

Together, let’s continue to innovate and put into place initiatives like the opening of a CLSC service point on Nuns’ Island and a super-clinic in Verdun, and the establishment of the Réseau express métropolitain. These major projects are only part of what our party can accomplish. Our government’s record is excellent and major investments have already been made for the benefit of all Quebecers. Thanks to the leadership and drive of Philippe Couillard, the success of the Liberal government’s action plan is clear. We did what we said we would do!

Note that the Liberal government has balanced our public finances to give us the means to invest more in our priorities. Since May 2014, more than 224,800 jobs have been created in Québec; the unemployment rate has been at an all-time low for several months; over one million Quebecers now have access to a family doctor; taxes have decreased; and major investments have been made, particularly in health and education.
