In the presence of Charles Milliard, Leader of the Quebec Liberal Party, Brigitte Garceau, MNA for Robert-Baldwin and godmother of the Centre-du-Québec region, and more than sixty activists from the region, Sophie Martinbeault was officially nominated as the QLP candidate in the Nicolet-Bécancour riding.

Sophie Martinbeault, 30, has been teaching vocational training for nearly ten years and is co-founder of an organic farming business in Saint-Wenceslas. After arriving in the region nine years ago to build a market-gardening project, she quickly became involved in her community, notably as an elected municipal official.

A graduate of the École d'agriculture de Nicolet, she knows first-hand the realities of the riding and its thirty or so municipalities, including the Abenaki communities of Odanak and Wôlinak.

Biographical details

A vocational training teacher since 2018, Sophie Martinbeault is also co-owner of an organic market gardening business. Her background has enabled her to develop solid expertise in sustainable agriculture, management and local development.

Over the years, her professional commitment has taken her throughout the Nicolet-Bécancour riding to meet producers, workers and entrepreneurs. These exchanges have strengthened her conviction that the region's vitality depends on making the most of our resources, and improving access to healthy, local food products for the entire population.

Currently in the process of completing a bachelor's degree in vocational education, she sees education as an essential pillar of progress, in both technological and human terms.

From 2021 to 2024, Sophie was a municipal councillor in Saint-Wenceslas, and also served as deputy mayor. This experience enabled her to gain a concrete understanding of municipal challenges, particularly in the areas of citizen services, infrastructure and regional economic development.

As a candidate in the 2026 provincial election, Sophie joins the Quebec Liberal Party with the desire to actively contribute to the prosperity of her region and the dynamism of Quebec as a whole.
